Dr. Evgenii Vasilev is a Metallurgical Engineer at Limelight Steel leading R&D on laser-driven zero-carbon iron production. Holding dual Ph.D. degrees in Materials Science and Physics of Condensed Matter, Evgenii has a rich history of bridging fundamental research with industrial application. His entrepreneurial path began with founding a startup focused on protective coatings for tools and dentures, followed by extensive work on magnesium alloys that led to the manufacturing of bioresorbable implants. At the MIT-spinoff Foundation Alloy, he developed powder metallurgy alloys for 3D printing. As a dedicated member of the user community, he has served as a Principal Investigator at the Molecular Foundry, LANSCE (LANL), and the Advanced Photon Source (ANL). This blend of startup innovation, industrial manufacturing, and deep engagement with national laboratory facilities positions him to advocate effectively for the diverse needs of the user community.
