Emma Xu is a PhD student at Columbia University, where she works with Professor P. James Schuck on characterizing the optical properties of avalanching upconverting nanoparticles. As a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow (NSF GRFP), she is spending a part of her fellowship at the Molecular Foundry at LBL as an on-site user. Specifically, she is collaborating with Dr. Emory Chan and Dr. Bruce Cohen to invent novel nanoparticles for super-resolution bioimaging applications.
